About Loan Low Interest
Loan Low Interest is an independent information site for people in the Philippines who want to understand what a loan really costs before they borrow. We publish plain-English guides on interest rates, fees, eligibility, repayment and borrower safety, and a reviewed list of loan and credit providers for readers who want to compare options. We do not make loans, we do not process applications, and we do not collect payments. Everything on this site is for general information only.
Why This Site Exists
Loan advertising in the Philippines often leads with a single attractive number, such as a low monthly rate or a promise of fast approval. The number that decides what you pay is usually somewhere else: the fee deducted before the money reaches you, the way interest is charged, the length of the term, or the penalty for a late payment. Many borrowers only learn this after they have signed. We built this site to put those details in one place, in language that does not require a finance background.
What We Cover
Our guides are organized around the questions a borrower asks, roughly in the order they come up.
- Cost. What makes up the cost of a loan, how the effective interest rate differs from the quoted rate, and how to compare offers step by step. Start with loan interest and costs in the Philippines.
- Eligibility. What lenders ask for, which IDs they commonly accept, and what happens when you have no credit history. Start with loan requirements and eligibility.
- Repayment. How repayment works, what late payment fees look like, and how to work out your total repayment. Start with our loan repayment guide.
- Safety. How to verify a lender, recognize scam warning signs, and report abusive collection. Start with our loan app safety guide.
Our home page brings these together in a review of loan apps and digital lenders for readers comparing options with relatively low published rates.
How We Research
We build each guide from official and primary sources wherever they exist: the text of Philippine laws such as the Truth in Lending Act (Republic Act No. 3765) and the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173); circulars and guidance from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP); and the National Privacy Commission and the Credit Information Corporation for data and credit information. For provider details, we read the provider's own published terms, help pages and disclosure statements. Where sources disagree, we say so or choose the more cautious statement. Where we cannot verify a figure, we leave it out rather than guess.
How We Build the List of Loan Apps
The list on our home page is not a ranking by cost. Published rates use different methods, such as add-on interest, diminishing balance and fees deducted upfront, so they cannot be placed on a single scale without each borrower's own numbers. Instead, we include providers whose identity we could check against what they publish and what the regulators record, and we describe what each one says about interest, fees, amounts, terms, requirements and repayment. The order reflects how clearly a provider publishes its costs and regulator details.
We also remove providers. If we cannot confirm that a company is authorized to lend, or if regulator records show its authority has been cancelled, it does not appear in the list, however popular it is. This matters because a list of "legit" options is only useful if each name on it has been checked. Rates, fees and authorizations change, so the list is reviewed and updated regularly, and the date of the last review is shown on the page.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not recommend that any individual borrow, and we do not tell you which lender to choose.
- We do not promise approval, and we never imply that approval is guaranteed.
- We do not give financial, legal or tax advice. If you need advice about your situation, speak to a qualified professional.
- We do not name specific companies as scams. Our safety guides describe behaviors and warning signs and send you to the regulators' records.
How the Site Is Funded
Some links on this site may be affiliate links. If you apply for a product through one of them, we may receive a commission, which does not change what you pay. Commercial relationships do not decide which providers we include or what we say about them, and we remove providers we cannot verify regardless of any commercial arrangement. The home page carries an advertising disclosure for this reason. Our full approach is set out in our editorial policy.
Corrections and Updates
Loan products and regulations change often, and we will sometimes be out of date or wrong. If you notice a figure that no longer matches a provider's published terms, a link that no longer works, or a statement you believe is inaccurate, please tell us. We check the point against the source, correct the page when we confirm the error, and update the "last updated" date. You can reach us through our contact page or at admin@loanlowinterest.com.
Who Writes Our Guides
Our guides are written and maintained by Marissa Dela Cruz, editor of Loan Low Interest. You can read more about how she works on her author page.
A Note on Using This Site
Treat everything here as a starting point. Before you accept any loan, read the lender's disclosure statement, check that the company is authorized to lend, compare the net proceeds, total repayment and effective interest rate, and make sure you can afford each payment. Our guide on how to compare loan costs shows how, and our guide to verifying a lending company shows how to check who you are dealing with.
